When should I send
my invitations?

Every stationery date works backwards from one date — the event. Enter it and get the whole schedule, including the two dates most people forget.

When should wedding invitations be sent?

Six to eight weeks before the wedding, with the RSVP deadline three to four weeks before the day. Save-the-dates go six to eight months ahead. For a destination wedding, move everything earlier — save-the-dates a full year out and invitations at three months, because guests are booking flights and leave.

02

The two dates people forget.

  • Collecting addresses. It has to happen before save-the-dates, and it takes longer than anyone expects. Left until invitation time, it becomes the bottleneck in the busiest month of the whole process.
  • Ordering, as distinct from sending. Design, proofing and printing sit between deciding and posting. Three weeks is a comfortable minimum for a printer; a design commission needs its own time before that. The calculator marks the order date separately for exactly this reason.

Common questions

Is it too late to send invitations?
Rarely. Under four weeks, send digitally as well as by post so nothing depends on the mail, and call anyone travelling. Under two weeks, call first and let the invitation follow as the keepsake.
Do I need save-the-dates?
If your date is over six months away, or guests are travelling, or it falls on a holiday weekend — yes. For a local wedding four months out, the invitation alone is enough.
How long should guests get to reply?
Three to four weeks from receiving the invitation. Longer and the reply gets deferred and forgotten; shorter and guests with childcare or travel to arrange cannot answer honestly.
What if my venue needs numbers earlier than this suggests?
Then work backwards from the venue's date instead — that is what the RSVP deadline calculator does, and it is the more reliable direction when the venue is strict.

Design in time for these dates.

Evorrah returns two moodboard directions within 48 hours and the full suite in five business days — which is what makes the order date on your timeline achievable rather than aspirational.
