Wedding
hashtag.

Nine suggestions from two names — and an honest note about the one thing this cannot do for you.

How do I choose a wedding hashtag?

Keep it short, spellable and unambiguous — anything over about twenty characters gets mistyped, and a clever pun nobody can spell defeats the purpose. Then search it on the platform before printing it: a tag already in use by strangers will mix their photographs with yours.

Runs entirely in your browser.

This tool cannot tell you whether a hashtag is taken, and no tool that runs in your browser can. Checking would mean querying Instagram and TikTok, which this page has no access to. Plenty of generators imply otherwise; we would rather say it plainly than have you print an unavailable tag on two hundred cards. Search it yourself, on each platform, before it goes anywhere near a printer.

What makes one work.

  • Spellable on the first try. If you have to explain it, guests will not use it.
  • Under about twenty characters. Longer tags get truncated in captions and mistyped on phones.
  • Capitalised at word boundaries — #AmaraAndDaniel reads instantly, #amaraanddaniel does not.
  • Check for an unfortunate second reading. Run the letters together and read again; this is where the memorable mistakes happen.

Common questions

Where should the hashtag appear?
The details card or a small sign at the reception — not the invitation itself. It is a day-of instruction, not part of the announcement.
Do we need one at all?
No, and fewer couples do now that photo-sharing links exist. A QR to a shared album collects better photographs than a hashtag does.
Can we use it before the wedding?
Yes, and it helps — using it on your own posts early is how guests learn it exists.

A better way to collect the photographs.

A per-guest QR code on the place card takes each guest straight to a shared album — no hashtag to remember, no photographs lost to a misspelling.
