What makes a minimalist invitation work?
One idea, executed exactly. Minimalism is not the absence of design; it is design with nothing left to hide behind. Type choice, spacing, paper and a single considered decision carry the whole piece — which is why a weak minimalist invitation looks like an oversight and a strong one looks inevitable.

What actually defines it.
- One decision, taken seriously. A fold, a cut, an off-centre placement, a single rule. Two ideas is not minimalism, it is a compromise.
- Typography as the entire design. With no ornament, the typeface and its spacing are the whole voice. This is where the money goes.
- Paper you can feel. When there is little to look at, the object itself becomes the experience — weight, texture, edge.
- Scale used deliberately. Very small type in a large field is the commonest minimalist gesture and it works precisely because it is confident.

Minimalism is not a budget decision. Fewer elements means fewer places to hide a compromise, so the paper, the printing and the typesetting all have to be good. A minimal design on cheap stock reads as unfinished rather than restrained — it is the one direction where the material cannot be economised.
