Opening Match Watch Party
Vendor guide · Bittencourt, Coral Gables
If you are reading only one part
- Florist / garden
- The palette below, and one rule that governs everything:
flat colour only. This event is designed, not merchandised. Nothing photographic, nothing
novelty. If you are bringing planting, bring what already grows in a Coral Gables garden — the
coral-rock wall and the loggia are the setting, not a backdrop to dress.
- Venue / production
- The garage's whitewashed end wall is the screen — keep it clear
and keep light off it. Eight long tables down the lawn under strung bulbs; the churrasco grill sits
at the far end. The eight tables are named for host cities, listed under Day-of notes.
- Photographer
- The stationery list is the shot list. Worth a frame: the painted edge of the
board in raking light, the panel that is meant to survive on the garden wall afterwards, and the
tables before four. Please note the suite itself contains no photography of people at all —
that is a stated rule of the design, not an oversight.
- Caterer
- Two vegan guests and one coeliac. The palmito skewers, água de coco and vinagrete
cover them — mark the board clearly so nobody has to ask. Children eat first, at four.

far end.

The visual identity at a glance
Typefaces: Hanken Grotesk (anything set large and flat) and Fraunces (the
reading — times, dishes, directions).
White is the tile and it is the ground of everything. The deep azulejo carries every word; blue,
green and yellow are laid down as areas, never as type. Every colour is flat and printed once
— there are no gradients, no shadows and no airbrushing anywhere in this suite, and that is a decision
rather than a simplification.
Match to the printed piece, not to these squares. These are screen values. The stationery is
screen-printed, so each colour is laid down thick and even and reads considerably denser than
a fabric, a paint or a printed banner mixed to the same number — and the whole party is outdoors in
Florida afternoon light, which will lift everything further. Ask for a printed piece before ordering
linen, bunting or signage.

Day-of notes
- The mark
- The suite is one panel prised off a tiled wall — the azulejo panels of Rio
and Niterói, where a wall holds one small picture per square and only means anything whole.
The mark carries no year, deliberately: it has to come out again every four years. Do not add
one, and do not add a tournament logo beside it.
- The eight tables
- Named for host cities, not numbered, and this is the order as
printed:
Rio de Janeiro · São Paulo · Belo Horizonte · Brasília ·
Salvador · Recife · Fortaleza · Porto Alegre
Keep that order down the lawn, and please do
not add numbers alongside them for service — the naming is the point.
- The wall panel
- One piece is made large enough to hang on the garden wall afterwards.
Rafael's grandfather's 1970 wall chart is still on a wall in Niterói, and that is the standard being
quietly measured against. Please do not trim, mount or laminate it without asking.
- The screen
- The garage's whitewashed end wall. Keep it clear and keep stray light off it —
nothing propped against it, no uplighters aimed at it.
- Food
- Children eat first, at four. Two vegan guests and one coeliac; the palmito skewers,
água de coco and vinagrete cover them and the board must say so plainly.
- Material
- Flat screen-printed spot colour on rigid heavyweight board, painted edge, lined
envelope. Nothing laminated, nothing textured, nothing that shines.
Please do not
- No photographs of players, crowds or match footage — nothing photographic of people at all.
- No sports-bar vernacular: no cartoon footballs, no scoreboard or jersey-number fonts, no
beer-and-wings graphics.
- No national-costume clichés — no toucans, no macaws, no bikinis, no stock feathered dancers.
- No gradients, no drop shadows, no airbrushing. If something is coloured, it is one flat colour.
- Nothing that reads as a sponsor activation or a merchandise stand.
This list is the clients' own words. Their stated fear is
the sports bar; the standard they gave us instead was “a proper tournament poster from the sixties or
seventies”.
